Political declation of the Global Conversation 2021

Global Conversation 2021 was a four-day event that has include an intensive programme of high-level discussions, working groups, development of the Political Declaration and action plans. We explored major obstacles to the achievement of the UN SDGs in societies with growing youth unemployment, intensifying climate change and ever deeper economic, social and racial divisions. We have discused the role of Civil Society in achivmenet of UN SDGs and importance of intercultural dialogue in healing divides and reconciling societies.

The conference was an opportunity to reaffirm the significance of the importance of the work with international civil society and discuss the UN SDGs what Nordic Region see as major goals for a more greener, socially sustainable and digitally integrated region. The conference has connected regional networks of practitioners, policy-makers, civil society organisations, youth and international donors mainly from Nordic-Baltic region and also from other part of Europe, plus some virtual participants from Asia, Africa and the Americas.

At this conference, the Political Declaration has been finalised and approved, together with local Citizens’ Action plans, which has been submitted to the Nordic Council, European Commission and spread across the networks, various international and governmental organizations and active CSOs in the field.

The conference was co-organised by a consortium of international partners and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through Estonian Development Fund and  supported (contently and/or financially) by the European Commission, Nordic Council of Ministers (Grant Programme for Nordic-Baltic Non-Governmental Organisations 2021) and Estonian National Foundation of Civil Society.
