Jõhvi Concert House opened its doors on October 8, 2005 under the management of Aivar Mäe, acting at the time as the Director of Estonian Concert. The architects of the concert house are Ra Luhse and Tanel Tuhal. Linda Madalik created the concert hall’s excellent acoustics. The colorful history of Jõhvi Concert Hall dates back to the year 1491 when Jõhvi Manor with its historicist features stood on the spot of the modern Jõhvi Concert House. The manor buildings were surrounded by a spacious park, which can be found next to the concert house even today, reminding us of the former glory of the manor. Tour in Narva Castle Museum
& Concert performance in Vaba Lava free stage
When: 29nd August, 14.30 – 20:00
Price: for free for delegates of Global Conversation
More than 700 years old, Hermann Castle in Narva has been ruled over by Danes, Germans, Swedes, and Russians through the centuries, but now finally belongs to Estonians.
It obtained its current appearance during the time of the Livonian Order from the 14th-16th centuries. Concerts and conferences take place in the castle’s magnificent vaulted knights’ meeting and banquet hall and also in the slightly smaller hall in the north wing, while the 51-meter-high Tall Hermann Tower offers views over Narva, the Kreenholm factory, and Ivangorod Fortress across the river in Russia. Narva Museum collects and showcases the history of the city and surrounding region and its architectural, cultural, and natural heritage.
The Performing Arts Centre Vaba Lava (in English: free stage) was opened in Narva on 1 December 2018, in the former military factory complex Baltiets. The venue will provide performing space for local theatre companies, and will also provide an opportunity to present guest performances by both Estonian repertoire theatres and independent companies as well as theatre and dance companies from Russia, Western Europe, and Nordic countries.
